Fostering Sustained Growth and Securing a Brighter Future for Busan!
The 10th Busan Metropolitan Council has officially launched, powered by the strong mandate of the citizens of Busan. On behalf of all council members, I extend our deepest gratitude to you for your faith in us. We are firmly committed to working tirelessly to live up to the honored title of being ‘the representatives of the citizens.’
It has already been thirty-five years since the birth of local council autonomy began in the Republic of Korea. Over the past decades, local councils have steadily forged ahead to build up the foundation of local autonomy and advance the values of decentralization. Through these efforts, local councils have evolved into a core system of Korean democracy, far beyond being a pillar of local autonomy.
However, this alone is not enough. Simply being a local council is no longer sufficient in this day and age. Now is the time for local councils to reach a new standard of excellence, answering questions such as “How capable is this council?” and “How responsible is this council for achieving tangible results?”
The 10th Busan Metropolitan Council will stand at the forefront of this transformation. We will remain in touch with the everyday lives of our people to safeguard their livelihoods, while proactively shaping the future of our city. We will be a city council which leads the way toward true decentralization and balanced development. By the end of our term, we hope to be remembered as ‘the council that delivered sustained growth and secured a brighter future for Busan’.
The 10th Busan Metropolitan Council will always place our citizens at the center of everything we do, while taking bold steps forward.
